Amar’s story: rooted in service and community
From LCUSD Classrooms to Servant Leadership
Amar’s journey in La Cañada began as a student sitting in the very classrooms his children now occupy. The education, mentorship, and community encouragement he received in LCUSD gave him the tools to pursue a legal career, earning his law degree and developing a sharp background in contracts, regulatory compliance, and fiscal management.
Amar learned early on that when a community invests deeply in its public schools, it expands possibilities for every child who steps through its doors.
Amar’s Story
Rooted in Service and Community
A Parent in the Trenches
02
Amar and his wife are the proud parents of four children currently attending LCUSD schools across the elementary, middle, and high school levels.
Living the day-to-day reality of modern LCUSD life—from drop-off lines and back-to-school nights to athletic events, arts performances, and homework sessions—gives Amar a full, real-time picture of our district’s strengths and challenges. He sees the impact of board decisions directly at his own dinner table every single evening.
03
Fiscal Stewardship & Board Readiness
Amar isn’t arriving at the board table as a newcomer to school governance. He has actively served our district on the frontlines of financial transparency:
Citizens Oversight Committee: Reviewing expenditures to ensure public funds match voter mandates.
Parcel Tax Oversight Committee: Ensuring locally raised tax dollars directly preserve essential academic programs and low class sizes.
His legal background allows him to analyze complex district contracts, labor agreements, and budget reports with a critical, professional eye—ensuring taxpayer funds are treated with respect.

Guided by Community Service
Beyond his professional and committee work, Amar is deeply woven into the fabric of youth and civic life in La Cañada. He has served as a PTA volunteer, youth sports coach, and scouting volunteer.
His commitment to equity and community welfare extends to his work as co-founder and organizer of the Khalsa Food Pantry in Pacoima, providing essential food relief and support to families in need. Rooted in the Punjabi and Sikh tradition of Seva (selfless service) and Sarbat da Bhala (the well-being of all), Amar brings a compassionate, service-oriented heart to public governance.
“I’m running because I know what this district can give a child—I’ve lived it as a student, and I’m living it again through my four kids. I want every family in La Cañada to have that opportunity.”
