ROOTS

Deep roots in La Cañada

My story in La Cañada began right here in our classrooms. LCUSD gave me my education, my values, and a strong foundation built on a supportive and generous community. It’s where I got my start in life—and it opened doors I will forever be grateful for.

Today, I see our district from every angle: as a graduate, as an attorney, and as a father of four children moving through our elementary, middle, and high schools. I’m running to protect what makes LCUSD exceptional and to ensure that every family—whether they’ve lived here for generations or just arrived—finds the same world-class opportunity my family did.

“Having both lived almost all our lives on Green Lane, I have watched Amar Malik grow from a little guy on his bike racing around to a proud and involved family and community member. We need Amar Malik on the LCUSD Board!”

Long time La Canada Resident and LCHS Alumnus

02 / ACCOUNTABILITY

Proven leadership & local accountability

Maintaining a top-tier school district takes more than good intentions—it requires rigorous stewardship, legal and fiscal expertise, and hands-on community engagement. As an attorney and member of both the district’s Citizens Oversight Committee and Parcel Tax Oversight Committee, I know how to navigate complex budgets and ensure strict accountability. With the recent passage of Measure LCF ($113 million), our community trusted us with the resources to modernize our schools. I will ensure every dollar is spent transparently.

“Amar Malik is a long-time supporter of educators and public schools with a wealth of experience in business, construction, and law. I am proud to endorse his candidacy for the La Canada Unified School District Board of Education.”

03 / SERVICE BEYOND SELF

Service beyond self

From coaching youth sports and scouting to volunteering with the PTA and co-founding the Khalsa Food Pantry, my life is guided by a simple principle: selfless service. I am not running to build a political profile.

I’m running because I know what this district can give a child—what it gave me and my kids—and I want to dedicate my experience to keeping our schools safe, ambitious, and welcoming for all. Our roots are strong, our students are capable, and our future is bright.

“I’ve worked with him on the PTA board and witnessed first-hand his intellect and dedication to our community. He has coached my son and daughter at baseball and softball and he dedicates countless hours to foster our kids’ growth and development. He is not seeking this position to advance himself but to make sure the voice and concerns of parents in the community are heard and addressed.”
